SBI PO EXAM 





SBI PO eligibility: 

Following are the minimum eligibility conditions required to be fulfilled by the aspirant to be eligible to apply:

1.Graduate in any discipline from a recognized University or possessing any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.
2.The minimum and maximum prescribed age limit is 21 years and 30 years calculated as on 01 April 2018. The maximum age limit shall be relaxed for the reserved category candidates as per the reservation norms of the Government of India.


Stages under the SBI PO Exam Pattern 2019:

The Recruitment Examination for Probationary Officers to various SBI Branches is considered as one of the Central Banking Exams of the country. Every Year, a number of banking aspirants apply for SBI PO Recruitment Examination and the competition level of only escalated further beyond.
The stages of recruitment involved under SBI PO Exam Pattern 2018 are as follows:
Phase 1: Preliminary Examination
Phase 2: Mains Examination
Phase 3: Group Discussion and Interview
The candidates should note that their participation in every other stage except the Phase 1 is subject to their qualification through a cutoff score with which the SBI brings out just after the examination depending upon the constitutional affirmative policy.

Phase 1: SBI PO Preliminary Exam Pattern 2018
Important highlights for the Exam pattern followed in the preliminary exam are as follows:
1. The Preliminary examination is an objective type examination where the candidates need to select one correct option out of given four options.
2. The total mark of the exam is 100.
3. For every correct response provided, the candidates would be awarded 1 mark and for every wrong response  mark will be deducted. However, no mark will be deducted for any response.
4. The test would be conducted online.
5. The total time allotted is 60 minutes or 1 hour.



The candidates should note that there are three sections in the Preliminary examination which have sectional cutoffs which the candidates need to clear.

Phase 2: SBI PO Mains Exam Pattern 2018 (New pattern):

The candidates who score above the SBI PO Preliminary Cutoff Score 2018 will be allowed to take the SBI PO Mains Exam 2018 which will follow a completely different exam pattern. SBI has made some changes in the exam pattern of SBI PO Mains Examination. Mains Examination will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks. Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests will be online. Candidates will have to answer Descriptive Test by typing on the computer. Immediately after completion of Objective Test, Descriptive Test will be administered.


The main examination of SBI PO is divided into two stages:
1.Objective Test
2.Descriptive Test


Objective Test:


1.SBI PO Main Examination will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks.
2.Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests will be online. Candidates will have to answer Descriptive Test by typing on the computer.
3.Immediately after completion of Objective Test, Descriptive Test will be administered.
4.The objective test will be for 3-hour duration consisting of 4 sections of total 200 marks.
5.The Objective Test will have separate timing for every section.
6.The candidates are required to qualify in each of the tests by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank.
7.For every correct response provided, the candidates would be awarded 1 mark and for every wrong response  marks will get deducted. However, no mark will be deducted for any response.

Changes Observed in SBI PO Objective Test:

Step-wise changes observed in the SBI PO Objective test has been illustrated below:
Step 1: Total Time for SBI PO Mains Examination: Previously, the total time for solving objective paper of SBI PO Exam was 2 Hours. But, as per the new exam pattern, the total time for SBI PO Mains has been extended to 3 Hours.
Step 2:Section-wise time allotment: For SBI PO 2018, there will also be sectional limit on each of the sectional objective paper. The exam will be conducted online and each section has a timer.

Descriptive Section Pattern:

Along with the objective type question, the Mains Exam will have questions in the descriptive format as well. Following are the important points to ponder for the written examination:
1.The Descriptive Test will be of 30 minutes duration comprising of 50 marks.
2.The test will be of English Language (Letter Writing and Essay).
3.The candidates are required to qualify in the Descriptive Test by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank.
4.Descriptive Test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who have scored qualifying marks in the Objective Tests and are placed adequately high as per total marks in Objective Test.
5.This test will judge the writing skills of the candidates.

Changes observed in Descriptive Test:

The descriptive paper will carry 50 marks and the time duration will be 30 minutes. 
Phase 3: Group Discussion and Personal Interview
The candidates who clear the cutoff score for the Main Examination would then be called for a group discussion and personal Interview test where the candidates will have to face an Interview board. The Group Discussion will carry 20 marks and Interview will carry 30 marks. The aggregate marks of candidates qualifying in both the Objective Tests and the Descriptive Test will be arranged in descending order in each category. Adequate number of candidates in each category, as decided by the Bank will be called for Group Discussion and Interview. The qualifying marks in Group Discussion and Interview will be decided by the Bank.
